Is snow plowing hard on trucks?

Snow plowing typically causes strain only if the truck’s front axle doesn’t meet the necessary weight capacity for being properly upfitted with snow plows. Ensuring your truck has a front axle weight capacity of at least 7,000 lbs and using quality equipment significantly reduces potential wear and enhances performance during snow removal.

What's the difference between a service truck and a utility truck?

Service trucks are specifically designed for carrying and organizing tools, parts, and maintenance equipment, ideal for mobile service jobs. Utility trucks offer versatility, accommodating a broader range of configurations such as dump bodies, aerial lifts, and cranes, suitable for diverse operational demands.

What size plow should I put on my truck?

The bigger the plow, the heavier it is. For commercial applications requiring larger plows, ensure your truck’s front axle weight rating (FGAWR) meets or exceeds the weight requirements for the selected plow. Typically, a ¾ ton pickup truck or larger is suitable for heavy-duty plowing. For personal use, a ½ ton truck generally provides adequate capacity, provided its front axle meets the required weight specifications.

We are excited to officially share that RMT Equipment is now Mountain West Power Equipment, marking the completion of our transition into the Mountain West family. While our name has changed, our commitment to our customers remains the same.
